Step 2: The milled malt is mixed with hot water in the mash tun. It is stirred to release the sugars, resulting in a porridge-like mixture. We use B2O (a mixture of 20% biodiesel and 80% diesel) in our boiler for all of our hot water and heating. This reduces our carbon emissions and use of petroleum. |

Even though all we use for brewing is the sugars, the spent grains aren't wasted. After we're through with them, a farmer takes them and they are fed to cattle. on to the next step... |
